Shatter the Earth – Karen Chance

I’ve been enjoying this series, but this tenth book added too little. Cassie has a mystical bond with master-vampire Mircea B, and it grants them special powers. Cassie has a mystical bond with demon-mage John P, and it grants them special powers. Several hundred pages of pratfalls and avoidable dangers ensue. (Cassie receives a good deal of good advice over the course of the book. It’s not clear she’ll take any of it.) At the end comes the climactic, decisive battle in Faerie - that leaves way too many loose ends. The book was entertaining, but it didn’t feel as if the story or the characters were going anywhere.
