Far From Center – Debra Dunbar
This book is a spinoff from Dunbar’s ‘Imp’ series. The designation “Imp World#15” is misleading. There is a very good 8-book-so-far main series about an Imp (very minor demon) who gets very far on sheer brass and attitude. And there are spinoffs, some better than others, none as good as the main series. “Far From Center” is a very weak spinoff.
The characters are two-dimensional at best. Gabriel is an archangel with the maturity of a ten-year old. When he takes a [handsome, male] human form he doesn’t know how to use competently, ruins Nyalla’s mission, and destroys an artifact she can’t replace … they fall into lust with each other. There’s also a plot.
I was not able to care about these characters. They were too shallow.
