A Killing Frost – Seanan McGuire
Excellent, as all the October Daye books have been.
I thought the start and end contrived. The start - which can be described without spoilers - introduces a requirement that Simon Torquill, Toby’s extremely-estranged step-father, must be invited to her wedding (Or Else). It’s never made clear why this requires a quest to deliver the invitation in person, rather than a note sent to his last known address. The end cannot be described without spoilers, but it is too pat - basically a Deus Ex Machina resolution.
