So You've Decided to Become a Necromancer, Book 1 – N R Naosu
TI didn’t finish the book - which is unusual for me. It was too much effort to read. The page-to-page problems were technical - stilted language (Is this a translation? If it is, it’s insufficiently colloquial.) and poor copy-editing. The effort of reading the page is deducted from the pleasure of doing so, and eventually there was too much deduction. A larger problem is that the viewpoint character is immature and the story is a boy’s wish-fulfillment fantasy. The world-building, and the larger story in the background, are backdrops.
“This is the story of how I became necromancer, and one of the youngest mages to ever achieve true power.”
