The Left-Handed Booksellers of London – Garth Nix

Most people are unaware that the mythic world lies under ours, just ready to pounce. If they become aware, they are much more likely to get pounced. The book sellers are a clan that is familiar with this magical reality and works to keep it at bay. (Why book sellers? Mostly because even magical adepts need to make a living, and these adepts have been selling books for a long time.) When Susan visits a we-don’t-call-it-a-vampire in hopes of finding out about her father, and Merlin (a bookseller) offs the not-a-vampire, the hidden reality pounces hard.

An entertaining stand-alone novel. For some reason, Amazon has it classified under “General England Travel Guides”. (Machine learning? Human laziness? Auctorial humor?)
