I suppose the review title has it backwards, since CE started some months earlier than RR. In either case, the similarities predominate. The protagonist is given a universe-level role which makes her uncannily powerful. The writing is about 65% dungeon crawls and about 20% other combats, with the small remainder being story, including interaction with others.

There isn’t much interaction. Like the protagonist of CE, Alexia is detached and apathetic. She finds it hard to care about those who are weaker - with some exceptions made for family - and this in turn makes it harder for the reader to care about her.

The writing is very solid. The first book or so, when Alexia is relatively weak and faces real obstacles, is better than the later books, in which she slogs through dungeons the reader knows she will conquer.
