This is the handout for a class on bread. Anything to do with bread was subject to cconsiderable legislation and supervision in western Europe: It constituted the largest part of most people’s diet, and its price and availability were literally matters of life and death. This handout focuses on late-medieval England, for specificity.

The handout does not include the text of the talk. It contains accompanies the talk, with supporting materials - quotes, illustrations, tables, definitions, references. In the case of this class, the handout contains enough context that a reader can follow it without much prefatory description.
